Bonnie Dobson : Good Morning Rain (CAN/US,1969,re.2007)***°'
I found this great album at a fair. Bonnie Dobson has a powerful voice with some restraint and change of power and directions through qualities of expression of melancholy, and romantic feelings, both going inwards in strength. The production of this album was perfect, with beautiful clear contrasts, orchestrated arrangements (strings or brass, and some harpischord), mixed with acoustic guitars, hand shakers, and a rock band, an approach for a radio friendly song appearance between chanson, pop and rock. There are some real classic songs on this besides a few good versions of old classics like an idealistic version of “Streets of London”.
