Locust Music

Fazzini : Sulphur,glue the star (UK,2006)***°
Fazzini’s singer/songwriting album, especially in the first half of the album, shows a crafted, professional production and good ideas for the arrangements. By using sounds as instruments this gives a very coloured variety, opening up the world of possibilities with wider ranged technical combinations. On “Duplex” this is a drowning-like overuse of water bubbles. Mostly the acoustic guitar and a telephonevoice leads. The most dynamic expressions brings back in mind professional sound productions like from Sufjan Stevens, which are completely the opposite approach compared to the many lo-fi productions. Here each musical detail matters for the sake of clarity. The texts are strange, but it comes all down very much to the music itself.
