The Exeter Popes is the singer/songwriter project to Stephen Lipuma. This is his 3-track EP. I don’t recognize singer-songwriter driven music if you listen to “The Moon is red” and singing like “uh uh, it’s a beautiful day”, with the Teletubbie-like “uh uh” and the cradle like rhythm and the 2 chords playing and the jingle jangle strumming, it is more simple pop music. There is a definite influence from the Smiths but also in a more simplified way. Enjoyable.
