This Is The Kit : Krulle Bol (UK/F,2008)****°
After having discovered her incredible nice short track on Folk Off! I found out about this LP only release. Mostly this is Kate Stables with some backing vocals, accompanied by beautiful pickings on acoustic guitar and banjo, and sparse percussion on some tracks. She really has a clear, beautiful voice and singing technique, with a few times folk flavoured songs that are strongly structured but still follow intuitive evolutions and paths with personal visions and images, almost like paintings, showing underlying love and care too. A few tracks are led by more powerful rhythmical acoustic bass guitar playing, with percussion.
While she originates from Winchester, UK, lived in Bristol, she now resides in Paris. Occasionally she’s joined by Jesse D. Vernon of Kate's other project Morningstar, and Emily Stables. Kate also has a third project, Whalebone Polly, with Rachael Dadd.
This album is a limited (500) hand numbered vinyl. It was produced by John Parish (PJ Harvey etc). Highly recommended.
