PrivateWooly Mar : Free Fall Anthems  (UK,2003)****'

Wooly Mar is Maria Pugnetti, voice, guitar, synth, harmonies, piano with Du Wayne Anderson on second guitar on 5 of 12 tracks and melodeon on another track. Maria is a visual artist and a writer too. Her songs are often accompanied by emotionally driven strummed or rhythmical fingerpicking guitar, gliding on waves of a, for an intuitive visual artist typical, improvisational vaguely-dreamy-descriptive mood. This sphere is, like her paintings surely attractive. Maria’s voice is slightly sad-melancholic but not really her songs. I guess they all are inspired from (like with three chakras of expression/inspiration) the heart, imagination and through words, triangled-in-force in her specific voice expression. The album is well produced and makes a very good impression.
PrivateWooly Mar : Woodland Chapel (UK,2005)****

Perhaps Maria’s voice will remind some people of Diane Cluck. This release has simple but well recorded homerecordings of quiet and soulful expressions with acoustic and some tracks with old piano mostly. This is like a collection of fantasies made in a beautiful and comfortable house, which might be her “Woodland Chapel”. The titletrack “Woodland Chapel” itself is a bit like a personal gospel. The other tracks have the same rich comfort, some moving colours in the voice, and while’s she’s directed to the listener, there still is a hidden loneliness in the expression. The fingerpickings are nice too ; just listen to the bluesy “Ride the ghosts” or the soft and gentle pickings on "Whole Body Health". Even with various listens the music and songs are still revealing new things to me.
