Yuval Avital : Voices (IS/I,2007)***
The sonic peaks distortion in the recording at first sounds in between interesting (effect) and annoying (too much of it), but I will try to listen through it. The “voices”-improvisation consists of woooeeaauu-ings, barking, throat scraping, sss-ings, shh-ings, in a multi-layered fashion, and with a skydiving evolution. Then classical acoustic guitar is added too, like a moody melodic swing, with a gypsy-like boyish humming-mode vocal improvisation in the background. The piece itself, of 11 minutes, is very rewarding, but my own copy shows so much distorting I think it more or less destroyed the enjoyment. I will check again another copy soon.
