IDIOTSYNCRATIC MUSIC
Some items can be categorized here
1. because they are so badly you can't believe your ears, you have to laugh hard.
2. they are so humoristic ; the singer behave like an idiot because it's fun to do so.
3. they want to be funny but they are just idiots (they can't help it to belong here).
4. they want to be serious but they belong to category 1.

Smoke : Jon ***
I don't know anything about her. May be A. she's an imbecile but express herself very well and in a funny way with all songs and pictures about dogs (with titles like "a little doggie in a little dog house" and "if you grow up, then what ?" and "don't dig there") so being a childish genius at the same time, or B. she's only 4 years old. All self produced and self recorded. Painting and music all by the same person. I wish all idiots did get a chance like this.
Parallel World
Peter Grudzien : The unicorn *
This was sold as a collector's item. A folk psych gem they said, with a real mystical story about a unicorn. I seldom heard such bad singing and voice with so much courage to continue. So many ideas and so much lack of talent it's almost mystical indeed. If you compare with just bad music there's real content here instead. In that way it's very enjoyable into the category of idiosyncratic humour.
Private
Margareth Smith & daughters : Sentimental Love
She once did send this to me ("to Van"). Everybody looks at her daughters when I show them the CD but she's the one. An impossible combination of lack of talent and complete surrender to her own creativity you should be touched by its (hopeless but true, really true) honesty.
Sorry I categorized you here, mum, but I did play in my radio program you because you really mean it so hard it griped me.. for some minutes. One chocolate is enough, thank you.
Red Crayola : The Parable of Arable Land
Psychedelic record with beautiful cover. All people play may be without hearing each other. Chaos, cacophony and psychedelica. Some people appreciate it, even me once (probably not being sober).
Red Crayola : God bless the red Krayola and all who sail with it.
Their second album are really (short) humoristic) songs. Nobody can play any instrument. There's some seriousness in this project. It didn't fail completely. It's nice after first hearing, stimulating to record one project yourself. And that's it.
Arf!Arf!Arf! Into outer Space with Lucia Pamela ***°
Pamela looking back at her project : hip hip, very hip
Very humoristic. But I wonder how much she is humoristic and at the same time out of the mind a bit. This album is a wonderful idea. The children book story is for and in the mind of a child. She can't sing very well and this makes the recording a bit idiosyncratic although it's very original. A combination of ideas from humoristic songs from the twenties and space effects from the beginning of the 60's. Very enjoyable.
The cover and Lucia reminded me at the album Sylvie & Babs from Nurse With Wound (with odd collage of end 50's-> early 60's sound)***** :
Tiny Tim *****
His mum said after his 40's birthday : better do something (beside listening to old songs). And he started to sing. Altough he stands with one tiptoe in the 20's humoristic songs and sings as an idiot, he does do this with a very advanced skill and voice. His recordings are very recommended. I first heard and started with "Concert in Fairyland" and this contains a unique atmosphere for sure. Reviews see next page->

Other interesting items to collect are the nanana-songs and lalala-songs (which I started myself to collect too). A recommended record there is Daniel Licari from 1975. (Now I'm serious) She sang on one track from Saint-Preux on Concerto : Concerto per una voce. Unique ! and the Dracula and monster rock'n roll songs (,very interesting to compile stories with),
PS. Many extremely old people recorded folk songs. They sound like idiots and I like it.
I extremely liked The Tau Moe Family with Bob Brozman : Ho'omana'o I na Mele O Ka Wa U'I with Hawain songs from the twenties song by a couple who sing thse songs from the twenties on, together with some related musiacians.
PS. The 20's and thirties had many idiosyncratic humoristic songs. Extremely original ones very often.
PS. Ivor Cutler as a writer did make several recordings where he's the wise idiot all the time.
PS. Another good humoristic item is Senor Coconut "El Baile Alemán" with covers of Kraftwerk in chachacha versions.
